Do you remember the show Trading Spaces?
I know I’m dating myself but that was one of the first home remodeling shows that got me hooked! I remember seeing some of the things they were doing and thinking, wait a minute, I can totally do that and I don’t have to be rich!
Tv shows like Trading Spaces, Extreme Home Makeover and Fixer Upper made me feel like anything was possible and sparked something inside of my husband and I.
For years we’ve talked about buying an older home and fixing it up ourselves. We dreamed about a place where we could finally plant some roots and create a home that was just right for our family.
The main thing that stood in our way, was the fact that my husband is in the Army and the longest we’ve been in one place was 5 years! Now, he is at a point in his career where we will more than likely be here, in my home town, for the long haul!
So, after years of looking and dreaming, we finally did it! We purchased our first fixer upper and our dream is slowly becoming a reality.
Welcome to our new home. It doesn’t seem real … probably because we haven’t moved in yet … but we have started the transformation process!
The first thing we did when we got the keys was to run in and rip out all of the old carpet! Let me just say, that is one of the most gratifying things I’ve ever done! It totally transformed the way the home looked, even with all of the staples, dirt, and nail tacks still in place. We found the most amazing red oak floors under the old carpet and have been refinishing them ever since.
We have so much to do in this old home, and invite you to follow along our live in renovation with us!
We are so excited to take this 1972 Southern Greek revival and turn it into our dream home!
We have our work cut out for us, but we are ready! So be sure to sign up for the newsletter here and follow me on Instagram for the daily updates.
We hope this journey inspires and encourages you the way so many people and home Reno shows have inspired us!
Creating a beautiful home you love takes time, sometimes years, before it can come to fruition but if it’s your dream, stay focused, save, work hard and when the time is right, it will happen.
Thank you for taking this journey with us!
Please share this with anyone who loves to see home transformations! We will share what we do, what we learn and even the bloopers along the way!
With Love,
Lisa Faye
