Do you and your family have anything planned for the summer?
I have a feeling all of our summers will look a lot different than summers past.
The summer months are usually moving season for the military.
This year however, most military families will not move unless it’s a necessity because of Covid.
Still, in the middle of this not so normal summer, we find ourselves house hunting!
This will be the second house we will purchase. For every other move, we have either lived on post or rented.
Our first home buying experience was a new build and we were able to choose everything we wanted in the home, knowing we would later use that home as a rental property.
Since we will more than likely be here for a few more years, we have decided that purchasing a second home is a better way to spend our BAH (the military’s monthly allotment for rent) each month.
The homes we are currently looking at will also be used as a rental property in the future so paying some of it down now, will be a smarter move for us.
We’ve spent hours each day looking for houses for sale and so far we have two homes we are currently looking at.
Both of the homes were built in the 1950’s and have previous owners we will have to negotiate the price with, so this will be a new experience for sure.
One of the homes will need a considerable amount of work but is in an absolutely beautiful neighborhood that we would love to be in!
The second option has been beautifully renovated on the inside, but will need some work on the outside. It is also in a nice neighborhood but not as nice as the first one.
We have decided to make an offer on the newly renovated home and we will have to wait and see if they accept our offer.
We hope to get settled this summer so our daughter will be ready for school in a new district, so pray that the house for us will be a done deal!
I will be honest, we are already tired and we haven’t even moved yet! But one of the things that keeps me going is looking at Home decor inspiration! LOL
I know that may seem silly but it takes my mind off of the stressful part and gives me a way to think of the fun part of moving, decorating a new space!
The main purchase we want to make right away, is a new couch!
We have wanted a new couch for a while because we don’t all fit on the one we have. The reason we haven’t purchased one, is because our on post living room is too small and a larger sectional wouldn’t fit.
So I have a few options I am looking at and would love your help narrowing it down!
The floors are light wood in each home and the walls are currently light grey or white.
Here is my first insp photo! Source was found here.
We have a large family and when we watch a movie we would like for everyone to have a seat on the couch. Right now we can’t.
The option above is larger and although my heart wants a white couch, I know it would not stay white long so the darker grey is an option we are looking into as well.
This option has more of a pillow top look to it but still has a crisp look.
I found this inspo photo on the Chrissy Marie Blog. I love the lighter color and my husband would love to get something similar to this but with two chaise lounge at each end.
Out of these two styles, which would you choose?
I’ve linked these options, along with a few other options I like, in case you are looking for a new sofa of sectional too!
Remember, if you like the sofas, you can save the picture below on your Pinterest for later.
I will share a few more things I have been looking at and would love to hear your ideas on where to buy a beautiful sectional that is super comfy but still looks great. Share all your ideas below.
With Love,
Lisa
first of all, SO CUTE!!! we’re trying to decide if we will buy a house or live on post for our upcoming pcs in a few months…and the struggle is real! but i LOVE the first option – and then dress up everything around it in white!! 🙂
Thank you so much for your feedback girlie. The struggle is definitely real. I hope you all will be able to find the right spot for you. When will you move?
thank you!! at the end of august
Good luck with the house! I’m loving the style of the second one, but I don’t know that I’d want a white couch either. Hard with kids.
I know right. They truly are beautiful but I think it would drive me insane…especially since I am a tad OCD Thank you for your feedback friend. Praying we get the right house and couch.
